CCAC Program 2009-2010 for Juniors & Seniors
Dual Enrollment Announcement CCAC Program for 2009-2010 Juniors and Seniors
The Pine-Richland School District is anticipating receiving a grant award to help qualified junior and senior students with the costs of earning college credit while in high school. A Dual Enrollment agreement has been established with Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). Students will receive both high school and college credit for courses taken under the grant program. However, the college grade will not be considered in calculation of high school GPA or class rank. The CCAC dual enrollment courses are offered in the evening at the North Campus, Saturday at the North Campus or as Internet based "on-line" courses. Please read all sections of the CCAC agreement. The agreement outlines the specifics of the CCAC program and registration process.
CCAC
fall program registration is now open. The cost
for a course at CCAC is approximately $423.00.
An additional fee of $20.00 is charged by CCAC if the course is
on-line. The costs for tuition, books
and fees must be paid directly to CCAC. Payment plans may be available from
CCAC. In addition, students must provide
their own transportation to CCAC North Campus.
Grant funds received by the district will be used to partially reimburse parents for the costs of CCAC courses with a maximum of 2 courses per student/per semester. We anticipate the reimbursement rate to be approximately 50% reimbursement. However, the rate has varied from year to year depending on the state budget, i.e., reimbursement rate could be more or less. Grant "slots" will be filled on a "first come. first served" basis. CCAC does not permit late registration.
To
participate in the CCAC program, your child must return the signed "Letter of
Interest and Intent" form to the Pine-Richland
High School Guidance
Office. Do not register
at CCAC before receiving high school approval and getting the CCAC "Dual
Enrollment" program application form from the high school guidance office. If your child is approved for the program,
your child must register for the course at CCAC according to course
availability, registration procedures, requirements and deadlines. The English 101 course requires passing CCAC
administered placement tests.
